Thanks to Matt and Mandy, who graciously invited us along on their get-away, Ryan Sean and I had a much needed break from the hustle and bustle of life. Here are a few pics of our time:

We had a blast! Thanks again!

Mandy has recently been posting some new experiences that Leta has had, so I thought I would join in . . . .

Sean's new favorite meal: Spaghetti

Sean's new favorite game: taking all the clothes out of his drawer

at least he tries to put them back in

Sean's new rocking chair . . . a $4 garage sale find, Yay!
Sean's new favorite toy: roll of duct tape

Sean's new trick: pointing to his "bebo" which is hippo for bellybutton, as you can tell he doesn't have his anatomy all figured out quite yet.

Spring!

I am hoping it is here to stay. I have been enjoying these moments of spring that have fleetingly been popping up here and there. Here are a few spring moments we have had:

Sean looking out the window at the birds and neighbors walking their dogs (Sean has it backwards and calls them "gaad"). Notice how he is up on his tip toes . . . Ryan loves how he does this. Then he heard I had the camera out and got curious.

The first air dry of the season . . . I forgot how much I loved hang-drying Sean's diapers. They just seem cleaner and fresher that way. Do you think Sean will be embarassed to know that I talk about his diapers on the world wide web?
I also thought I would mention these new clothes pins I picked up at Target. I used the traditional wooden ones all last spring/summer and had to buy new ones this year because they did not hold up. So when I went to purchase some I saw these new fancy clothes pins and thought I would give then a try. Perhaps they will last more than a year

And finally I have not been very good at posting pictures of the trees in our yard. . . they are in full bloom now and it is quite spectacular. We really have to enjoy the cherry blossom one now because those flowers have already started to fall off.

New ways

A couple weeks ago Ryan and I were having a late dinner of turkey burgers (great recipe from Mandy by the way) and Sean was pretty curious as to why we were eating and he wasn't. So he climbed up into my lap, grabbed by arm redirected the food a bit. Here is a video of it:

Just after Ryan turned off the camera he decided to skip the middle man and grabbed for the rest of my burger himself. Pretty funny kid!

Happy Birthday Sean

As I sit here writing this on the eve of Sean's first birthday there is a lot going through my head, the first of course is complete denial that our little boy is already a year old - has it been a whole year?!??! Really?!?!? It was only 366 days ago that I was still pregnant and in such anticipation of meeting our still unnamed son. What was he going to look like? Whose nose will he have? When will he start sleeping through the night? And then my water broke, and only 18 hours later you were born.

Such a blessing from day one - You instantly brought such overwhelming joy to us. I never imagined I would or could feel so much love for something. I remember just crying because I was so in awe of and in love with you. Here you are at two weeks - you were so little you fit in our hands, pretty amazing.

I know you won't remember you first birthday party, so we took lots of pictures to show you someday. Although you did have a little meltdown after everyone sang Happy Birthday to you, you managed to enjoy some of your carrot cake cup cake - even licked the candle.

Sean, you are such a blessing to us and we love you more than words can express!
