Happy Birthday Sean

As I sit here writing this on the eve of Sean's first birthday there is a lot going through my head, the first of course is complete denial that our little boy is already a year old - has it been a whole year?!??! Really?!?!? It was only 366 days ago that I was still pregnant and in such anticipation of meeting our still unnamed son. What was he going to look like? Whose nose will he have? When will he start sleeping through the night? And then my water broke, and only 18 hours later you were born.

Such a blessing from day one - You instantly brought such overwhelming joy to us. I never imagined I would or could feel so much love for something. I remember just crying because I was so in awe of and in love with you. Here you are at two weeks - you were so little you fit in our hands, pretty amazing.

I know you won't remember you first birthday party, so we took lots of pictures to show you someday. Although you did have a little meltdown after everyone sang Happy Birthday to you, you managed to enjoy some of your carrot cake cup cake - even licked the candle.

Sean, you are such a blessing to us and we love you more than words can express!

Walk On

Here are a couple videos of Sean's first steps a couple days ago. Every time he walked towards me he fell over - I like to think that it was because he was so excited to see me. His little walks are getting longer . . . it is crazy to think that he will be a year old in just a week!!!

Seriously?!?!?!?!
That was our Japanese Maple last night, here it is today (along with the other cherry blossom tree):

I once thought I would only ever have to mutter the phrase, "No begging" to a dog, but my son has proved me wrong. It was seriously the cutest thing ever. Hunched over, closing in, mouth agape, come on Lindsey, just one little bite! He was begging hard core! Just standing like that for minutes.

New Shorts

Ryan came home today from doing some errands with an early birthday present for Sean, these new athletic shorts. They only had size 2T, but they were so cute Ryan had to get them anyway.

Ryan then went on to tell me that everyone wears their shorts that big now so it won't matter at all. so . . . what is this all about then?

Sean is really into putting things away - here he is putting his wooden blocks away - into Ryan's slippers.

Pointing at the giraffes at the zoo

And finally, here are some of the latest pictures of the trees in our yard. They are changing so rapidly right now I am having a hard time keeping up.

10 on 10: April

Uh, started this post yesterday, computer died, finally finished . . . Here we go
So each 10 on 10 we get little windows into each other's days. So for this 10 on 10 I took that literally. Each picture below is either taken through a window, or of a window in which I encountered today. I hope you enjoy!

Kitchen window while eating breakfast

car window on way to work

classroom window
classroom window with student DNA model (don't worry, those gross streaks are on the outside, not inside:)
The back of my classroom is lined with windows into the neighboring classroom. I always wonder who thought this would be a good idea in a high school. Luckily the curtains are always shut and students are pretty good at leaving them be.
Parents house - and their magnolia tree, picking up Sean
The window in our Attic - who needs a window in the attic?

The old window we got from the the old farmhouse on Ryan's families ranch

Sean and I managed to go for a walk during the 15 minutes of rain - here we are back inside

barbecuing outside, Sean eating inside

Monday monday

Well today is the fist day after spring break - and as my mom pointed out I had the whole week off last week and did not post one blog! Guess I was still pretty busy. It was a good week though and got a lot done.
Sean is doing more things every day. I think he has said his unofficial first word - the other week we were at Green lake looking at all the birds which he loves to watch and I kept making "caw" noises. Now he will point at the windows in our house (which we often look out to see the birds) and say "caw". It is too cute.
Here is his first experience with crayons
He is such an amazing little boy and I am so excited to continue to watch him learn and grow!

Spring Break!

What!?!?!? I Spring Break already?!?!? I am so excited about this break - getting to spend all 5 days of the week with our little boy, feeling like I have plenty of time to not only clean the house, cook, and grocery shop, but also visit some friends, have breakfast with mom, take Ryan lunch, etc. Needless to say I am excited about my little break.
I hope you are enjoying this cold spring week as well!
